This Week’s Market Update for the Whistler and Pemberton Real Estate Markets, December 14th 2017

Holiday Greetings from Whistler,
Tis the Season!  The 12 days of Christmas is upon us.  I always think I’m going to be organized and ready for the big holiday but in actual fact, I think I thrive on the last minute rush.  It is the time of year to be “Thankful” for what we have and “Thankful” for our families and the love we share with them.  We are lucky to have all of our family between Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. Last weekend we were all together for our annual Christmas Gala at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.  There were 18 of us all together at the gala dinner and then the 8 other grandkids enjoyed dinner at the Wildflower, playing on the pool and tobogganing. My family has outgrown my house, so the Fairmont Whistler is always a fabulous place to have our Christmas party all together.


Many guests are enjoying the warmer temperatures and sunshine on the mountains, however, we would like to see some new snow soon. The Olympic Plaza skating rink is open and is a fun place to gather with the family if you are looking for something to do apres’ ski. 
 
The Real Estate market has slowed down considerably in the two weeks.  It is normal for this time of year although a little early due to the lack of inventory.  I suspect that you will see a lot more listings come on the market after the second week of January.  There are 12 new listings and only 6 sales this week, this is a sign of slowing down.  Another thing to notice there are 8 price changes, most of them reductions, two increased the price but overall this is another sign of slowing down.  We still have less than 200 listings on the market, I think it will remain slim pickings until the new year. 
Then…… let’s see what 2018 brings.
