How about that sale? Whistler Blackcomb has just been sold to Vail Resorts Inc. for $1.4 Billion! We knew nothing about it until the announcement. The new owners are going to be a big shot in the arm with the intention of making Whistler Blackcomb the #1 ski resort in the world! Vail Resorts has said it will continue with Whistler Blackcomb’s massive Renaissance Project, a $345-million three-phase plan to dramatically upgrade the resort. Most of the local Whistlerites are happy with the takeover, Stay Tuned ! Among the additions planned are:
The Watershed: An indoor, four-season, weather-independent adventure centre;
- One Blackcomb Place: A new “six-star” luxury hotel, residence and club;
- A new outdoor “non-skiing attractions and activities” centre called Blackcomb Adventure Park;
- New chairlifts, restaurants and snow-making and terrain improvements on Whistler Mountain;
- A new indoor action sports complex called The Annex;
- Up to 65 new ski-in/ski-out townhouses called Blackcomb Terrace;

The real estate market is not standing still either. It is a tough market for people trying to buy property in Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. This is unknown territory for all of us. If you are looking to buy, be prepared for multiple offers, most listings will see about 4-7 offers on them.
