Greetings from Whistler,

It has been said by many people that these are the best days of skiing and snowboarding we have had all winter. Last Saturday was truly magical for me, just a few hours of fantastic skiing on Whistler, Dusty’s for a glass of wine for Après and a dinner party for 9 serving fresh spring salmon and prawns harvested by my husband. It was a good day! Good news for many is the Whistler Bike Park opens this Saturday May 2nd. It is just as exciting as the ski season for some and we often have a group camping out to be the first ride up!

We have just done some first quarter market reviews and our market is very active in many segments as we have been saying. We are short listings of unrestricted use condos and townhomes under $500,000, and single family homes in good condition under $1.2 ml . The one type of property that is increasing in inventory is our Hotel Condominiums. For an unknown reason, they are not selling as well.

The average price of Chalet’s is $1,662,601, almost the same as last year at this time which was $1,651,835. The average sale price of a condo is up at $391,092, last year was $342,036. Townhouses are selling about the same average price of $758,377 compared with $754,942 in 2014. Shared ownership is down this year to $86,137 vs $90,481 in 2014.

The # of listings today is still low at 458, similar to last year which was 431. The dollar volume of sales YTD is 214 sales at $173,936,200.00 compared with last year YTD also 214 sales, sold at $142,781,000, so we are up approx… 18% overall in dollar volume.
