Community Update:
We are so excited for the Winter Olympics to start! There is a crew of local athletes from Whistler and Pemberton competing in Beijing during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and we are proud to know several of them and their families! Though we can’t be there as spectators this time around, we’ll be following the coverage closely on TV every day! An Indigenous-led partnership has taken the next step in exploring a potential bid to host the 2030 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
The agreement announced Tuesday between four First Nations, the City of Vancouver, the Resort Municipality of Whistler, the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Paralympic Committee will include a feasibility assessment and initial concept development to bring the Games back to the Vancouver area.
