“But I don’t want to go!”

We’ve all heard that phrase and it seems to become more prevalent when making plans to spend a day together as a family. It’s not because they don’t want to keep company with family members but rather the activity choice could be seen as rather…dull. Finding the right activities for the whole family to enjoy is really not as difficult as it may seem, making it very possible to remove that phrase from your kid’s vocabulary. Luckily, there are many fun Whistler activities for the whole family that will get a “can we go already” reaction!

Skiing

We love to ski together as a whole family. and by the whole family, we mean Grandma, Moms, Dads and all 9 grandchildren! Living in Whistler has provided a wonderful opportunity to all share the love of a sport and be able to participate in it together. On family ski days, everyone wants to be involved!

Snowshoeing

Grab the kids, pack a lunch and go on into the wilderness on a snowshoe adventure together! Whistler has a number of hiking trails that turn into great snowshoe trails in the winter time. The Train Wreck trail is on of our favorites! If you need rentals, visit the Lost Lake Passivhaus or Spice Sports in both upper and lower village.

Cinema

The cinema is the quintessential staple for many families but it can turn into a whole afternoon if you plan it right. Go out for hot chocolate first and then to the Great Glass Elevator Candy Shop before going into the movie. With so many wonderful kid-friendly films out, there is sure to be something that will keep everyone entertained and the candy could be used a bribery if not!

Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Center

Introduce your children to local cultural knowledge through a visit to the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. There are many permanent exhibitions, group tours and unique crafting workshops such as cedar rope or dream catcher making.

Ice Skating

Ice skating can be done at the Whistler Olympic Plaza or on one of the frozen lakes. We like to go out on Alta Lake with the family to skate around. It always turns into more of social even with all the other families out!

Get ready to have the most fun possible when spending time together as a whole family. With this list of activities, you won’t be hearing “I’m bored” any longer.
